The ‘God Fright’

What you feel when God calls you.

Jump Off!

The ‘God fright‘ is a term I have coined to explain what many people have no words for. The God fright is not speaking of a negative, evil type of fear.
No, it is a divine call into an environment you cannot control, a call into mystery, a call into trust, a call into uncertainty and unfamiliar. This call always produces the ‘God Fright’ .
When YeHoVah called Noah to build an Ark, called Abraham to leave his father’s house, called Moses to deliver the Israelite, called Joshua to lead Israel into the promise land all these men will tell you they faced the God fright.

The Call of YeHoVaH is always a call to do something bigger than us, something bigger than our bank account, something unseen and undone by those around us.
Moses felt the ‘God fright’ when YeHoVah called him, he told God, “Send someone else.”.

Send Someone Else!

Moses said to YeHoVah , “O Lord,  I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”11  YeHoVah said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, YeHoVah ? 12  Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”13  Moses said, “Oh, YeHoVah please send someone else.” Exodus 4:10-13

Many quit, many give up, many never embrace their ministry, calling or identify because they feel a God fright to do a huge task.

Get Use To The God Fright!

What did Gideon feel when called into greatness, he felt a God fright. He wanted to push the responsibility to someone else when called to do the task. Eventually, he got used to it and went. He eventually became a world changer.
